$mart Fundraising

In response to NJ's 4% cap on annual school budget increases, the HSA stepped up to fill the gap and provides funding for a majority of the activities that our children participate in – assemblies, author visits and some field trips as well as specific technology such as smart boards to assist teachers.

We hope to continue to benefit our students by supporting activities that enrich their elementary school experience.

WHAT EXACTLY ARE WE PAYING FOR?

In 2009, our expenses totaled $21,474.  Here's how that money was spent:

* Cricket:  If you've ever watched "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire," you've probably seen this
polling technology in action when they "Ask The Audience."  At school, students
click in their answers, and the teacher can see at a glance how many understand what
was just being taught and those who may need some extra assistance

 * Elmo:     Back in olden times, teachers used transparencies and overhead projectors to show
images to the class.  Today, the elmo document camera makes it possible to project any
information onto a big screen  no transparencies needed!
