Responsibilities and Duties

Byrd School Mayor
and Student Council Members

1.    Attend scheduled meetings.

§         Held twice a month, during the lunch period.

Students should be aware that they may be missing

 all or most of their recess time on these days.

§         Depending on the activities for the month, additional meetings may be scheduled for BEFORE and AFTER school (i.e. the older council members may need to finish working on a project.)

2.    Participate in and help to run various fundraisers and community outreach programs.

§         This may include, but is not limited to bake sales, coat drives, food drives, etc.

§         Events such as bake sales, pencil sales, etc. may be held during lunch periods.

3.    Act as a representative of Byrd School.

§         Make brief presentations (i.e. handing over a sum of money that has been collected for a particular cause.)

§         Meet and greet during special assemblies/events.

4.    Be a model citizen.

§         Members should remember that they are setting an example for the rest of the Byrd School community!
